On 10/1/2009 the Great Hill Hose Company responded to a call for a vehicle in the Housatonic River. The vehicle was traveling down Route 188, crossed Route 34 and plunged into the river. The occupant was not injured and was out of the vehicle upon arrival of the fire department.

Great Hill’s Tanker 19 has won the trophy for “Best Appearing Tanker” at the 2009 state Firefighters’ Convention parade in Litchfield.
The 1994 Peterbuilt tanker also won the trophy in the 1997 and 2006 state Firefighters’ Convention parades.
Great Hill participated in a joint drill with Citizens at a house slated for demolition that was donated for the fire department’s use.
Great Hill sponsored a dunk tank and participated in a “Touch a Truck” event hosted by Entertainment Cinemas to benefit the Valley Food Bank.
